Nintendo has announced a new handheld gaming console, the 2DS. The 2DS, out on October 12th and priced at $130, has been met with confusion. It will be able to play both DS and 3DS games, similar to the 3DS, but will not have a 3D screen to support 3D play. Also the console will not have any hinges as it will not be able to open and close like the “clamshell” styled 3DS. It almost looks like a slate or a tablet, except with two screens (which are reportedly just one giant screen with some plastic laid between the two viewpoints). It is priced cheaper than the 3DS and seems like a good console for those new to handheld gaming devices.
Bottom line that I take away from this:
The 2DS is actually a Pokémon seller. It looks like a pokédex and comes in red and blue, the two colors that represent Pokémon X and Y. It also takes away the parts of the 3DS that may be dangerous to children under 7 (the possibly vision damaging 3D and the “clamshell” style opening and closing of the device). On top of all of that it is inexpensive for a new console.
